If you want to straighten your teeth but are not interested in wearing braces on your teeth, then we can offer you Invisalign®. While traditional braces are an effective, sturdy, and reliable form of teeth-straightening treatment, Invisalign is a clear alternative form of treatment. Invisalign is a customized series of clear aligner trays that gradually shift the teeth into the proper alignment without the need to permanently attach brackets to the teeth.
Invisalign is available at Mark Lowe D.D.S. Orthodontics in Fresno and the surrounding area. This treatment can be effective for teenagers, young adults, and adults. We can customize this treatment to meet your needs and fit your teeth. You can discreetly straighten your teeth for the ideal smile you desire.
Dr. Lowe was the very first Elite Invisalign provider in the Central Valley. Call us today at 559-467-1235 if you are ready to make an appointment and learn more about Invisalign today.
Customized for Your Teeth
While traditional braces use metal wires and brackets, along with elastics, to move teeth into the right place, Invisalign uses a different approach. These aligners consist of a flexible plastic that fits over the teeth, similar to a mouthguard. This clear plastic makes it nearly invisible to other people.
By taking a mold of the patient's teeth, Invisalign uses computer technology to make a 3D scan of the mold and measure how the teeth will need to move to straighten out. It is then possible to map out critical positions during this process in which the patient will need to switch to a new set of aligner trays in the series.
The patient can remove the aligners when eating and during other activities, so long as they wear the aligners at least 22 hours per day. With a customized fit, the patient will not have to worry about the aligner trays not fitting correctly.
The Invisalign Treatment Process
At Mark Lowe D.D.S. Orthodontics, we can use clear aligners to accomplish the same goals as braces. Our team will review the patient’s needs and conditions to develop the right plan. These clear aligners can help with the following challenges:
- Crowded teeth
- Gaps in the mouth
- Crooked teeth
- Underbites, crossbites, and overbites
During the initial meeting, our team will review the patient’s medical history and current condition. We will conduct an oral exam to determine the severity of the orthodontic issues. After we determine that Invisalign is the right choice for the patient, then we will customize the Invisalign to their teeth.
During the treatment, the patient will switch out a set of aligners every few weeks and continue with the next set in the series.
Proper At-Home Care
While Invisalign is removable and does not restrict one's diet, they need to follow specific care instructions at home. For instance, the patient will need to clean their teeth thoroughly. If the patient does not do this, then there is a higher chance of bits of food being noticeable beneath the aligners.
Regardless, patients can continue to eat favorite foods and participate in activities. Wearing braces can be emotionally and socially awkward for some people. However, clear aligners are nearly undetectable and removable. This way, patients can live their life without this orthodontic treatment holding them back.
Patients can take the aligners out while eating but brushing and flossing are still vital. Patients should rinse the aligners regularly and keep them in a safe place when they are out of the mouth. If there are any rips, tears, or other problems with the aligners, the person should call Mark Lowe D.D.S. right away.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does Invisalign feel?
The clear aligners are designed to be more comfortable in a patient’s mouth than traditional braces. There may be some irritation at first. However, the patient will adjust to the appliance after a few days.
What is the right age for Invisalign?
In most cases, Invisalign is recommended for patients in high school or older. Children are not always as responsible as adults, so we usually only recommend this treatment for more mature patients. To learn if you are a candidate for Invisalign, schedule a consultation with us.
Will I have to change my oral health care routine?
Not by too much. The only difference will be to remove the aligners and rinse them out when brushing your teeth. However, it is also essential to brush and floss after each meal.
Will insurance cover the treatment?
This answer depends entirely on the type of dental insurance the patient has. During the initial appointment, we can go over the insurance options. The patient will need to reach out to their insurance agency for an exact answer.
How long will the treatment last?
Invisalign treatment is often shorter than treatment with metal braces. The length of time for treatment will depend on the severity of the patient’s orthodontic condition. Some patients wear the aligners as little as a couple of months.
Can the patient wear Invisalign while sleeping?
Patients should wear the aligners at least 20 hours a day. Our orthodontist will help the person know when they can remove them. However, there are no problems with wearing them throughout the night.
